Environmental protection is one of the pillars that support ArcelorMittal Inox Brasil’s businesses.
Being ISO 14001 certified since April 2001, the Company has the following attitude:

• it respects the environment and the community, focusing on the needs of future generations;
• encourages recycling and valorization of its products and by-products;
• applies the best existing and the most economically feasible technologies to prevent and control emission of effluents – coming from productive processes – to reduce energy consumption and use of natural resources.

PRODUCTION

Sustainable development in line with production.

• Environmental Management Programs: they assure the implementation and modernization of environmental control-related projects and equipment.
• Use of water resources: today ArcelorMittal Inox Brasil recycles 96% of the water used in the productive processes.
• Suppliers’ environmental adaptation: in 2004, ArcelorMittal Inox Brasil implemented to the Suppliers Qualification Program (PQF) criteria with focus on social responsibility.
• Preservation of own real estates at Timóteo’s urban area: a project developed in partnership with Minas Gerais State Eastern University Center (Unileste-MG).
• Residue management: the objective is to reduce environmental impact as well as operational costs. This management intends to reduce residue generation, encourage reutilization, recycling and trading, and to avoid deposition.
• Monitoring of the various environmental areas of the Plant: ArcelorMittal Inox Brasil has a control over the emissions of air and water effluents and noise, as well as over the use of natural resources, by complying with legal requirements.

Corporate social responsibility is inherent to the Company’s business and to its way of doing business. It is expressed through its ethical and responsible attitudes in every action, policy, practice and approach to all related public, inside and outside the Company, as well as to all those involved in the process.
